Sustainability is at the core of Ecocem’s business, we strive to have a positive impact on the environment around us not just through the product we supply.  We have set ambitious targets as a group in the areas of workplace, community, environment and ethics.

Circular economy

Ecocem GGBS comes from circular economy. The raw material used to produce GGBS is a by-product of the iron and steel industry. Thus, the production of Ecocem GGBS avoids quarry extraction of natural materials and values an industrial by-product.

In Dunkirk, Ecocem plant is integrated into the environmental industrial approach of the Dunkirk territory. It values a by-product of ArcelorMittal cast, partner and neighbor of Ecocem on Dunkirk’s port. In addition, Ecocem facility in Dunkirk is supplied with energy thanks to gases coming from ArcelorMittal’s industrial activity. Thus, our approach is complete and coherent. It demonstrates that we can produce in a different way.

Sustainability policy

In 2018, Ecocem launched its sustainability program. Ecocem Group is committed to evaluating and improving its performance across all aspects of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

Ecocem maintains the highest standards of compliance in all its operations, this is demonstrated by our third-party certifications. All of Ecocems production sites are certified to ISO 45001 2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 9001 Quality Management.

As part of our ISO 9001 Quality Management System we rigourously test our products against European norms ensuring CE certification and compliance with our customers specifications.

We have carried out life cycle assessments on all of our products and have third party verified Environmental Product Declarations. These EPDs demonstrate our low environmental impact and allow designers to make informed decisions on the products they are specifying.
